I live to witness the wonders of the universe. I am impressed by human endeavors such as art and technology, and awed by natural phenomena such as biology and physics. A specific wonder is consciousness, as Data mentions in Star Trek: The Next Generation - "Emergence". Such questions have shaped how I view and appreciate the world.
I was born in the first year of the 21st century. I grew up in a Midwestern U.S. suburban neighborhood with my older brother, mother and father - Erik, Wanda and Olaf. I love my family dearly and appreciate my parents' efforts to raise and educate me.
I have attended public schools throughout my life and gained invaluable experience and knowledge. My parents, teachers and peers have nurtured in me a fascination for all subjects of life - history, economics, math, physics, chemistry, et cetera. Near the end of my secondary school education, I began considering where to focus my further learning and work. I considered the basic necessities of life - food, water and shelter. I find the mechanical and tactile assembly of structures and objects interesting, so the design and construction of shelter was appealing. Therefore, I decided to learn about mechanical engineering and building science.
The path of my university education has been winding. I began studying engineering at the Ohio State University in 2019. I started towards a civil engineering major, but I bounced between that and computer science - my other enduring passion - for a couple of years. In the year 2023, I realized my greatest and most enduring interest is IT (information technology).
I find the wholistic system of computers and networks amazing. I also appreciate the societal implications of IT. Rowan Atkinson's first statements in this speech struck a chord with me. Through the information age network communications, databases and computers have become a major part of society and culture. I want to learn how IT works and strive to develop and maintain it.
I am enrolled in the IT AAB program at the University of Cincinnati Blue Ash as of the Spring of 2024 and am transitioning to the BS IT program at the Clifton campus in the Summer of 2024.
